Kitchen Electrical Work - Handover

This is a proposed approach for the kitchen electrical work. Please review and feel free to adapt based on your professional experience and what works best for the installation.

The spreadsheet includes the proposed circuit layout, component list, and wiring approach. You can print it, add your notes, or adjust the plan as needed.

Objective: Complete electrical installation for new kitchen.

Location: Ground floor, new kitchen area Electrical Panel: Ground Central 2 (G2)

Ground Central 2 (G2) is an old-style electrical panel with porcelain fuses and 3 small DIN rails that would be the preferred spots for the new kitchen.

Each DIN rail is 20cm long (9-10 module positions). Kitchen circuits would ideally be consolidated onto DIN rails using rail-based numbering:

  • Rail 1 (Phase 1): G2-11 to G2-19 (continues with G2-1A, G2-1B etc)
  • Rail 2 (Phase 2): G2-21 to G2-29
  • Rail 3 (Phase 3): G2-31 to G2-39

A 4th rail could be considered for future consolidation of 3 phase circuits (oven and sauna).

RCCB Wiring Approach: One RCCB per phase. Circuits requiring RCCB protection are wired through the RCCB; circuits not requiring protection are wired directly from RCCB input (bypass). This provides flexibility without vendor lock-in (no busbar desired here).

Rail 1 - Phase 1 (5 modules used, 4-5 free)

Section titled “Rail 1 - Phase 1 (5 modules used, 4-5 free)”

Components:

  • 1x RCCB (2 modules)
  • 3x Circuit breakers (3 modules total)

Circuits:

  1. G2-11 (16A breaker) - Kitchen wall sockets (Walls 1 & 2)

    • → Through RCCB
  2. G2-12 (10A breaker) - Wall heater (domino under windows)

    • → Bypass RCCB (not required)
    • Move from G2B-10
  3. G2-13 (16A breaker) - Fridge (isolated circuit)

    • → Bypass RCCB (avoid nuisance tripping)

Rail 2 - Phase 2 (6 modules used, 3-4 free)

Section titled “Rail 2 - Phase 2 (6 modules used, 3-4 free)”

Components:

  • 1x RCCB (2 modules)
  • 4x Circuit breakers (4 modules total)

Circuits: 4. G2-21 (16A breaker) - Dishwasher

  • → Through RCCB
  1. G2-22 (16A breaker) - Hood fan + island socket

    • → Through RCCB
  2. G2-23 (10A breaker) - Wall heater (stock)

    • → Bypass RCCB
    • Move from G2B-11
  3. G2-24 (10A breaker) - Kitchen lights

    • → Bypass RCCB

Rail 3 - Phase 3 (5 modules used, 4-5 free)

Section titled “Rail 3 - Phase 3 (5 modules used, 4-5 free)”

Components:

  • 1x RCCB (2 modules)
  • 3x Circuit breakers (3 modules total)

Circuits: 8. G2-31 (16A breaker) - Washing machine

  • → Through RCCB
  • Move from G2B-3
  1. G2-32 (16A breaker) - Kitchen wall sockets (Wall 3, windows)

    • → Through RCCB
    • Move from G2B-6
  2. G2-33 (10A breaker) - Wall heater (chimney room)

    • → Bypass RCCB
    • Move from G2B-12

Total Components:

  • 3x RCCB (one per phase)
  • 4x 16A breakers
  • 6x 10A breakers

Most kitchen circuits are consolidated onto DIN rails using rail-based numbering (G2-11 to G2-33). See DIN Rail Layout Plan above for complete component list and wiring approach.

Key wiring requirements:

  • Install 3x RCCB (one per phase)
  • Wire socket circuits through their phase’s RCCB
  • Wire lights, fridge, and heaters bypassing RCCB (direct from RCCB input)
  • Move some wires from old porcelain fuses to new DIN rail breakers

Circuits with RCCB protection (wired through RCCB):

  • G2-11: Kitchen wall sockets (Walls 1 & 2)
  • G2-21: Dishwasher
  • G2-22: Hood fan + island socket
  • G2-31: Washing machine
  • G2-32: Kitchen wall sockets (Wall 3, windows)

Circuits without RCCB (bypass wiring):

  • G2-12: Wall heater (domino)
  • G2-13: Fridge (isolated, avoid nuisance tripping)
  • G2-23: Wall heater (stock)
  • G2-24: Kitchen lights
  • G2-33: Wall heater (chimney room)

Reference the wall diagrams in the kitchen documentation for exact locations.

  • G2-11-KT-SO1: Double socket
  • G2-11-KT-SO2: Double socket
  • G2-11-KT-SO3: Double socket
  • G2-21-KT-SO1: Double socket
  • G2-11-KT-SO4: Double socket (Circuit G2-11)
  • G2-11-KT-SO5: Double socket (Circuit G2-11)
  • G2-22-KT-SO1: Double socket (Circuit G2-22, shared with island)

Wall 3 (Circuit G2-32, except fridge on G2-13)

Section titled “Wall 3 (Circuit G2-32, except fridge on G2-13)”
  • G2-12-KT-SO1: protruding socket + smart relay for led strip

  • G2-13-KT-SO1: Double socket

    • NEW fridge circuit (isolated on Rail 1/Phase 1, bypasses RCCB)
  • G2-32-KT-SO1: One double socket

  • G2-32-KT-SO2: 2 double sockets

  • G2-32-KT-SO3: 4 single sockets

  • Circuit G2-24 (10A, Rail 2/Phase 2) - All kitchen lights
    • Bypasses RCCB (lights don’t require RCCB protection)
    • Powers all kitchen lighting zones

The kitchen will have 3 lighting zones controlled by a 3-way Zigbee relay:

  1. Ceiling LED spots (approximately 8 spots)

    • Product: Airam recessed LED spot lights (FioFix IP44 3000K)
    • Product manual
  2. Island task lighting (suspension, approximately 1 fixture)

    • 🔧 [Specify fixture details]
  3. Countertop task lighting (LED lights under upper cabinets)

    • 🔧 [Specify fixture details]
  • 🔧 [Specify if this should be on G2-24 or separate circuit]
  • Control: Separate Zigbee relay with auto power-on capability

5 switch locations planned:

  • 2 triple switches (one per entry)
  • 3 simple switches (island, countertop, secondary)

Control method: Momentary push buttons connected to Zigbee relay module(s)

Wiring diagrams:

  • G2B-5 (legacy porcelain fuse): Currently includes kitchen lights mixed with other areas
    • Action: Detach kitchen lights from this circuit and move to G2-24
    • Why: Separate control needed for kitchen lighting system
    • Leave on G2B-5: Heatpump, other area lights, wall sockets (Chimney room, Stock, Workshop, Basement)

Wall 1:

  • G2-24-KT-LW1: Push button switch (for light control)
  • 🔧 [Add other push button locations]

Products:

  • Circuit: G2-31 (16A, Rail 3/Phase 3, with RCCB protection)
  • Location: Behind the corner from kitchen (New kitchen + Big bathroom entrance)
  • Status: New circuit on DIN rail, ready for socket installation
  • Location: Ceiling
  • Requirement: Wiring to circuit
  • 🔧 [Specify which circuit - consider lighting circuit G2-24 or separate circuit?]
