Manifold Cabinets
Manifold Cabinet System
Section titled “Manifold Cabinet System”Manifold cabinets house the control systems for underfloor heating distribution. Each cabinet contains a 12V power supply that powers controller boards (Kincony A8), which use dry relay contacts to switch 230V power to normally-open motorized valves.
Naming Convention
Section titled “Naming Convention”Cabinet Level
Section titled “Cabinet Level”Format: [FLOOR]M[NUMBER]
- M = Manifold cabinet
- Example:
GM1= Ground Manifold 1,BM1= Basement Manifold 1,SM1= Second floor Manifold 1
Component Level
Section titled “Component Level”Format: [CABINET]-[ROOM]-[TYPE][ID]
- Example:
GM1-KT-FAN1= Ground Manifold 1, Kitchen, Fan 1 - Example:
GM1-PSU1= Ground Manifold 1, Power Supply 1
Component Type Codes
Section titled “Component Type Codes”| Code | Description |
|---|---|
| PSU | Power supply (12v/24v) |
| FAN | Ventilation fan |
| CTRL | Controller/relay board (e.g., Kincony A8) |
| VALVE | Motorized valve (230V, normally open) |
| TEMP | Temperature sensor (e.g., DS18B20) |
| SENSOR | Other sensors (water leak, etc.) |
Valve Control Architecture
Section titled “Valve Control Architecture”Safety Design
Section titled “Safety Design”Motorized valves are 230V normally open - they allow heat circulation by default. In case of controller failure or power loss, the system defaults to a safe state with heat flowing through all zones.
Control System
Section titled “Control System”Each manifold cabinet contains:
- 12V Power Supply - Powers the Kincony A8 controller
- Kincony A8 Controller - 8-relay board with:
- Dry relay contacts (10A rated) switching 230V to valves
- Digital inputs for DS18B20 temperature sensors
- Digital inputs for water leak sensors
- Network connectivity for home automation integration
Wiring Path
Section titled “Wiring Path”Electrical Panel (230V) → Manifold PSU → 12V DC → Kincony A8 ↓ Valve Circuits (230V) → Dry Relay Contacts (10A) → Motorized ValvesIntegration with Electrical System
Section titled “Integration with Electrical System”Each manifold cabinet’s power supply is connected to a specific electrical circuit. The manifold component codes (e.g., GM1-KT-FAN1) reference low-voltage components, while their power source is documented in the electrical system (e.g., circuit G2-24 powers GM1-PSU1).
Note: The 230V valve circuits are separate from the 12V control circuits - the Kincony A8’s dry relay contacts provide galvanic isolation between control logic and valve power.
